Frank Pelosi, Jr., MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. He is currently director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan Health System. Originally from Galveston, Texas, Dr. Pelosi earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center––San Antonio, completed his internal medicine residency at Exempla St Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado; completed cardiovascular fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Michigan. He has been on faculty at the University of Michigan since 1999. In 2019, Frank joined his co-founders to form PendaranHealth.

Dr. Pelosi has authored or coauthored over 200 manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters in national publications and has lectured and taught physicians throughout the country at national scientific meetings. He has served on national committees to establish standards in cardiac rhythm diseases and implantable cardiac devices. He is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Cardiology and has served as an advisor and consultant for several Fortune 500 biomedical companies. From his work at the University of Michigan, he is the cofounder and Chief Medical Officer of Avicenna Medical Systems, a medical software start-up whose products are used at the University of Michigan and several Veterans Administration locations throughout the United States.

Dr. Pelosi is most proud of his lovely and inspirational wife of 24 years and freely credits her for raising their three outstanding sons. Dr. Pelosi is a committed Christian, and his faith is a source of strength and inspiration in everything he does.

Hossein Nivi, PhD

Dr. Hossein Nivi is an accomplished executive, engineer and academic with experience in operations, leadership development, and educational methods As an executive, he built one of the top leadership development systems in the world, led operations, transformed Ford Motor company’s plant training model, and co-established two globally competitive universities. As an engineer and academic, he has received two Henry Ford Technology Awards, 3 patents, and published 30 papers on work that has contributed tens of millions of dollars to Ford’s bottom line.  

Hossein founded Pendaran in 2006 with a vision to replace conventional teaching with experiential education worldwide and become the new paradigm in learning effectiveness. Pendaran’s revolutionary learning system facilitates transfer of knowledge and acquisition of experience simultaneously; hence “accelerated experience.”  This is the foundation of Pendaran client success in business transformation.  In 2019, Dr. Nivi co-founded PendaranHealth to bring the experience of Pendaran to the healthcare industry

Dr. Nivi served as Dean, College of Business Administration at the University of Detroit Mercy from 2006 to 2008.  Prior to this appointment he was the Dean of Ford Design Institute.  During his 25+ years with Ford Motor Company, Hossein held a number of managerial and executive positions including Director of Global Product Development and Manufacturing Leadership Programs. He served on the Industrial Advisory Boards of the MIT and Stanford business and engineering schools. From 1966 to 1978, Hossein helped build two globally competitive universities in Tehran and Isfahan in Iran and also served as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering.  

Hossein received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1975 from the University of London in England where he pioneered the field of computerized automotive diagnostics. He has also received his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. degree in Electronics and Computer Control Systems.

Carol Michaelides, MBA, CPC

Carol Michaelides has spent her Corporate career in Human Resources, with experience ranging from executive development to plant floor labor relations and union negotiations. With emphases on strategic system thinking, change leadership, and the power of the individual to impact business results, her unique approach to human capital has earned her a place at the key decision levels of the organizations she has served. Industry experience includes defense, automotive, consulting, software, product development, manufacturing and graduate/executive education. She and her business partner formed Pendaran, Inc, in 2008. Pendaran develops and delivers “live-fire” simulation-based learning systems focused on accelerated problem solving. In 2019, PendaranHealth was formed as a stand-alone entity to bring the experience of Pendaran into the Healthcare space.

Presently, Carol works with corporate teams and individuals to maximize potential through results directed coaching.

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Carol served as an advisor to senior management at Ford Motor Company, held the positions of Sr. Vice President of HR at Comshare, Inc, a $100 million global software development company, and change management consultant, Meritus Consulting. She has been an adjunct professor of System Thinking at the University of Detroit Mercy and advisor to the Dean of the College of Business. She has also served on not-for profit boards of directors, including the Make-A Wish Foundation of Michigan and The Emerson School.

Carol holds an MBA with concentrations in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, and a BA in History and English from Hope College. She is credentialed as a Certified Professional Coach by the International Coach Academy, Melbourne Australia.

Dan Lerch

Dan Lerch has spent much of his career in the field of health-care hospitality services. Positions in the industry have included system contract sales, consulting, direct food-service sales and restaurant management. Dan has developed strong skills in budgeting, contract negotiations, event development/implementation, as well as logistics’ execution. Versed in purchasing protocols Dan understands the infrastructure of the healthcare industry, appreciates and respects the value of strong tactical relationships, as well as the development of multi-level and new relationships within systems. His commitment to consulting-based selling resulted in consistent over-achievement of sales, profit, and accounts receivable goals, as well as strengthened relationships among staff at key levels within a variety of healthcare systems. During his tenure with US Food service, Dan created and implemented customer diagnostic studies focused on improved cost alternatives resulting in operational efficiencies and maximizing profit, leading to significant annual savings for Henry Ford Health System. He was recognized by US Food Service for the creation of a nation-wide minority distribution model and received the company’s National Spirit Award for Innovation. He believes the best teams are built with diversity and the utilization of each person’s strengths and unique abilities. Operating with respect and integrity will drive positive results. 

Dan is committed to giving back and has served in volunteer leadership roles with University of Michigan’s Camp Michitanki for children who have received organ-transplants, as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan, Autism Alliance of Michigan and Habitat for Humanity International. 

Formal education includes graduate coursework in marketing, production/operations management and organizational theory from Eastern Michigan University. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration minoring in hospitality services and accounting. 

Dan’s skills, education and experience, combined with his even temperament and natural attention to detail qualify him to contribute in a multitude of business positions and make him a valuable asset to the Pendaran team.

Jim McAlpine

Pendaran’s lead Software Developer has spent his 30+ year career on the continually changing, cutting edge of software and IT in the manufacturing industry.

Specific areas of development and application include Research, Electronics, Advance Plant Systems, Finance Systems and Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development. He is expert in the creation of simulation systems for manufacturing environments, with his most recent product being the Pendaran, Inc. Virtual Workplace.

This key member of our team holds a B.S. Computer Science, Eastern Michigan and an M.S. Industrial & Systems Engineering, University of Michigan.

He also has two US Patents for Identifying and visualizing faults in PLC based manufacturing systems (7433801) and Applying rules to validating data for a machine arrangement (7698245).
